There is increased demand for prevocational junior doctors in practically all hospitals in 2022. This creates an opportunity for international medical graduates or foreign doctors to apply for hospital positions as Resident Medical Officers, Principal House Officers and even Registrar positions in many of the Australian hospitals.
Rural and regional hospitals have job vacancies in almost all states in Australia. If an international medical graduates is already in Australia, there is increased chance of getting a job in one of these hospitals if applied in time.
Hospitals are also creating training support programs to assist international medical graduates and foreign doctors in completing their both the parts of Australian Medical Council examinations which helps them in applying for hospital rotations that paves the way for obtaining General registration with Australian health Practitioner Registration Authority ( AHPRA).
Once AHPRA general registration is obtained that also allows the international medical graduates on temporary short skilled visas to apply for permanent residency. Being a permanent resident in Australia gives an opportunity for these doctors to apply for postgraduate training programs which allows them to become specialists in their desired medical specialty training once training is completed
