Mathias Cormann,
ex-finance minister of current ruling Government in Australia is elected as the
secretary general for 37 country rich OECD, Organisation of Economic
Cooperation and Development.
The five year term
commencing at the start of June this year will mark the beginning of increase
influence of Australia and current Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison
on global stage. Australia has emerged strongly out of Covid-19 pandemic crisis
and is showing even stronger signs of economic growth with growth rate being
predicted at 4.5% for 2021, almost 2% higher growth than in 2020.
Mathias Cormann will
have a crucial role to play in the next five years as the first representative
of Asia Pacific region in securing the in-charge role for major economic policy
making body that influences world wide economy particularly affecting European
nations.
